Update On Mercedes Mone After Suffering Broken Ankle At NJPW Resurgence

Earlier this year, Mercedes Mone made her NJPW debut at Wrestle Kingdom 17, where she attacked KAIRI. Mone became the IWGP Women’s Champion by defeating KAIRI at Battle in the Valley. She then successfully retained her title against AZM and Hazuki at Sakura Genesis.

Last April, Mercedes Mone dropped the IWGP Women’s Title to Mayu Iwatani at Stardom All Star Grand Queendom. Mone was then extended her contract with Bushiroad.

Last month, The CEO of Stardom faced Willow Nightingale for the inaugural NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship at Resurgence. During the match, Mone slipped from the top of the turnbuckle and fell on the floor. As a result, she suffered a broken ankle. Nightingale then became the inaugural NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion by defeating Mone.

Mercedes Mone recently posted an Instagram story and indicated that she had undergone surgery. In the caption, she stated “Day 6 recovery.”

Mone was supposed to compete at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. However, the plan was canceled after Mone’s injury.
