NJPW Sakura Genesis 2023 Results: Mercedes Mone Defends Her IWGP Women's Title, New IWGP Heavyweight Champion Crowned

NJPW Sakura Genesis took place today at Ryōgoku Sumo Hall in Tokyo, Japan. Nine matches were held at the event, including five championship matches and four six-man tag team matches.

Aussie Open won the IWGP Tag Team Titles by defeating Bishamon. In the main event, Sanada became the new IWGP World Heavyweight Champion by defeating Kazuchika Okada.

Here are the results of the event:

  • Minoru Suzuki, Toru Yano and Great-O-Khan defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi, El Desperado and Yoh in a Six-Man Tag Team match.
  • United Empire (Jeff Cobb, Aaron Henare and Francesco Akira) defeated House of Torture (Evil, Yujiro Takahashi and Sho) in a Six-Man Tag Team match.
  • Just 5 Guys (Taichi, Yoshinobu Kanemaru and Douki) defeated Los Ingobernables de Japon (Tetsuya Naito, Shingo Takagi and Bushi) in a Six-Man Tag Team match.
  • Bullet Club (David Finlay, El Phantasmo and Kenta) defeated Guerrillas of Destiny (Tama Tonga and Hikuleo) and Master Wato in a Six-Man Tag Team match.
  • Mercedes Moné defeated AZM and Hazuki in a Three-Way match to retain the IWGP Women’s Championship.
  • Zack Sabre Jr. defeated Shota Umino to retain the NJPW World Television Championship.
  • Aussie Open (Mark Davis and Kyle Fletcher) defeated Bishamon (Hirooki Goto and Yoshi-Hashi) to become the new IWGP Tag Team Championship.
  • Hiromu Takahashi defeated Robbie Eagles to retain the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship.
  • Sanada defeated Kazuchika Okada to become the new IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.
