Last night, NJPW Resurgence took place from the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, California. You can read the results of the event by clicking here.
In the show, NJPW held a tournament to crown the inaugural NJPW Strong Women’s Champions. Mercedes Moné, Stephanie Vaquer, Willow Nightingale, and Momo Kohgo competed in the tournament.
Mercedes Mone and Willow Nightingale advanced to the finals by defeating Stephanie Vaquer and Momo Kohgo respectively. However, Mone faced an unfortunate incident during the finals of the tournament.
The former IWGP Women’s Champion attempted to perform a move while she and Nightingale were on top of the turnbuckle. Mone slipped and landed on the floor. She suffered an injury after that awkward landing. A few minutes later, Nightingale hit a Powerbomb on Mone to become the inaugural Strong Women’s Champion.
Following the match, Mone was carried backstage by a person from the medical team. PWInsider reported that Mercedes Mone has suffered a broken ankle during the match.
Mercedes Moné appears to have gotten injured tonight in her #njpwresurgence bout against Willow Nightingale. We will post updates as they become available, we wish the best to Mercedes and send our thoughts.
