Sasha Banks and Naomi walked out of WWE In May of last year. At the time, both were the Women’s Tag Team Champions. The company then stripped Banks and Naomi of their titles and addressed the situation on SmackDown. In a statement, WWE stated that both women had left the company due to creative issues.
Earlier this year, Sasha Banks made her NJPW debut as Mercedes Mone and subsequently won the IWGP Women’s Title by defeating Kairi at Battle in the Valley. Mone last wrestled at Resurgence, where she lost to Willow Nightingale in the tournament finals of the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship. She is currently out of action with an ankle injury.
During a recent meet & greet, a fan asked Mercedes Mone how NJPW treated her after leaving WWE due to creative issues. The 31-year-old denied that she had creative issues with the company. The fan then asked, “So what’s the real reason?” Mone replied as follows:
“Why would I tell you? You aren’t going to see my interview. Aren’t going to read my book. You aren’t going to see me in the future… All right, then, just wait. Thank you. JJ appreciates you. Keep on reading your fiction books. Okay.”
