Dana White’s announcement of Alex Pereira defending the Light Heavyweight Title against No. 8-ranked contender Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC 307 received a huge backlash from fans.
Jamahal Hill expressed his displeasure with the UFC for giving Rountree Jr. a title shot after testing positive for PEDs. However, the No. 2 ranked contender, Magomed Ankalaev, stated that he doesn’t need sympathy from fans.
On X, Jan Blachowicz stated that there are several top contenders who deserve the Light Heavyweight Championship opportunity against Alex Pereira. Blachowicz added that Pereira needs no special protection.
“With all due respect to Khalil but there are at least two higher ranked contenders who are ready to fight Poatan. He doesn’t need special protection.”
Jan Blachowicz last competed at UFC 291, where he lost to Alex Pereira via split decision.
