Last year, Ronda Rousey made her return to WWE at the women’s Royal Rumble match after three years of absence from in-ring competition. Rousey was unable to win at WrestleMania but she became the SmackDown Women’s Champion after defeating Charlotte Flair in a rematch at WrestleMania Backlash.
However, she lost the Title to Liv Morgan at Money in the Bank but regained the Championship at Extreme Rules PLE. Rousey’s second WWE run didn’t exceed the expectation. She failed to connect with the audience and had a lot of ring rust.
The Baddest Woman on the Planet last competed on the December 30th episode of Friday Night SmackDown, where she wrestled in two matches. Rousey retained her SmackDown Women’s Title by defeating Raquel Rodriguez in that episode of SmackDown. However, a moment later she dropped the Title to a returning Charlotte Flair.
WrestleMania 39 is two months away and the company announced two matches for the event so far. There are a lot of matches discussed for the event and a few bouts have already been confirmed internally. Rousey’s WrestleMania status is now confirmed as per Dave Meltzer.
On Wrestling Observer Newsletter Dave Meltzer confirmed that Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler will challenge Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky for the Women’s Tag Team Titles at WrestleMania 39.
