Nine years ago today, Seth Rollins attacked Roman Reigns & Dean Ambrose with a chair on the June 2nd, 2014 episode of WWE RAW and joined The Authority. Reigns was then presented as the top babyface in WWE. However, Reigns’ babyface run completely flopped.
Three years ago, Roman Reigns made his return to WWE at SummerSlam as a heel and started The Bloodline storyline. Reigns then captured the Universal Championship at the 2020 Payback. Two years later, he became the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion at WrestleMania 38.
A new chapter of The Bloodline storyline was unfolded at Night of Champions this past Saturday. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer noted that there are a lot of things that remain to happen in The Bloodline storyline. In the end, Reigns would become the top babyface in WWE.
”The angle remains the focal point of the company and has plenty of twists and turns left. There is who Jey Uso sides with that can be dragged out, the inevitable Sikoa and Reigns feud, more with Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes way down the line, and in the end, the Reigns babyface turn in the role as the all-time legend, which it seems these past few years is grooming him to be, and the special attraction superhero babyface for the big shows.”
Roman Reigns will celebrate the 1000-day title reign on tonight’s SmackDown. A new championship is also reportedly set to unveil during the celebration.
