WWE Could Legally Extend Drew McIntyre’s Contract

By The Spotlight StaffJuly 4, 2023
WWE Could Legally Extend Drew McIntyre's Contract

Gunther successfully retained the Intercontinental Championship by defeating Matt Riddle at Money in the Bank this past Saturday. After the match, Drew McIntyre made his return and attacked The Ring General.

Last night on RAW, Matt Riddle defeated Giovanni Vinci in a singles match. Following the match, Imperium then attacked the Original Bro but McIntyre made the save.

Drew McIntyre’s current WWE deal is reportedly expiring in the first quarter of next year. McIntyre hasn’t signed a new contract yet. During the Money in the Bank press conference, Triple H said that he believes McIntyre stay with WWE for the rest of his career.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer stated that WWE could extend McIntyre’s current deal through WrestleMania 40.

“So, he’s not signed a new contract. No, but that doesn’t mean he won’t. No, it doesn’t mean you won’t, you know, I mean, his contract’s got months to go, but the way Michael Cole and Paul Levesque talked about it, it was like, he hasn’t signed the offer. There is something to it, we’ll have to wait and see. With the time that he has off, I think that they could legally extend him through WrestleMania probably, if not pretty damn close. So, I mean, it’s a long way off, but he has not signed a new deal.”
