Last Saturday, Roman Reigns retained the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship by defeating Jey Uso in a Tribal Combat at SummerSlam. Jimmy Uso, who had been absent for weeks following Roman’s attack, returned during the Tribal Combat. Jimmy helped Reigns to retain the title by hitting Jey Uso with a Superkick.
On Tuesday, Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer reported that Roman Reigns suffered an injury earlier in the match. However, Meltzer didn’t provide further details.
Fightful Select confirmed Meltzer’s report and stated that Reigns was injured during Tribal Combat. Fightful added that Reigns is scheduled for this Friday’s SmackDown. They further noted that Reigns won’t miss any internally scheduled appearances due to the injury.
“Tuesday morning, Wrestling Observer reported that Roman Reigns got hurt early in the match with Jey Uso at WWE Summerslam. Fightful Select has since confirmed that news. However, he is still planned for WWE Smackdown this Friday… As of now, there aren’t plans for him to miss his internally scheduled appearances. That could always change.”
Although nothing confirmed, many speculate that Roman Reigns was injured from Jey Uso’s Outside Dive.
