Last night, CM Punk made his first appearance on WWE television in nine years at Survivor Series. Punk has signed a multi-year deal with WWE, and both sides came to terms on Saturday.
Triple H appeared at the Survivor Series post-show press conference, where he commented on CM Punk. WWE Chief Content Officer said that people love him or hate him, he’s always in the conversation. Triple H also said that Punk’s return, discussion, and everything else happened super quick. Triple H added that he and Punk have changed a lot in the past ten years.
“It’s been a long time coming. You can say this about CM Punk. Love him, hate him, positive, negative whatever you want to say. People talk about him all the time. He’s a magnet for that. He’s a conversation starter, and it’s tough to look past that. For me, if our fans want it, and the WWE Universe is excited to have it, then let’s go and we’ll figure things out from there.
This came together super quick, and that’s why it got to be so tight. There was a lot of speculation, and at the time there was nothing, and it didn’t come together until everyone stopped thinking it was gonna happen. Then all of a sudden, it was happening, but I’m extremely excited. You know, a lot of time has gone by, almost ten years right, and if you’re the same person you were ten years ago, you’re messed up. Everybody grows, everybody changes. I’m a different person. He’s a different person. It’s a different company, and we’re all on the even starting ground.”
Triple H said that they are excited to have him back in WWE.
“What’s next for CM Punk? That will be interesting, won’t it? I’m interested to see it myself. Whatever it is, it’s gonna be a thrill ride for the WWE Universe. We’re thrilled to have him back home in WWE where he belongs.”
