Recently, Fightful Select reported that CM Punk was interested in returning to WWE last December. However, at the time Punk was under contract with All Elite Wrestling. This past Saturday, CM Punk was released from Tony Khan’s promotion after investigating the backstage incident at All In.
PWInsider reported that CM Punk’s name has become a talking point in WWE since his release from AEW. Several WWE stars are opposed to the idea of bringing Punk back to the company. However, other stars see it as a “chance to make big money.” PWInsider added that one top star was all for Punk’s return.
“PWInsiderElite.com can confirm that within minutes of the announcement that Punk was terminated “with cause” by AEW President Tony Khan, he was an immediate topic of discussion within WWE, especially top talents. There were some who were adamantly against the idea and didn’t believe it could happen but others who looked at it as a “chance to make big money.” We know of one top tier star who was all for it, but it wouldn’t be their call.”
BWE noted that WWE CEO Nick Khan will make the final decision about bringing CM Punk back to the company if Triple H wants him.
