This past Saturday, Tony Khan terminated CM Punk’s AEW contract after investigating the backstage incident at All In. Khan said that it was one of the toughest decisions he had made in his professional career.
Last year, CM Punk was involved in a backstage brawl during the All Out media scrum. Punk and The Elite were suspended following the incident.
Fightful Select reported that CM Punk had an idea about returning to WWE last December. However, they noted that “WWE nor AEW had never seriously entertained the idea.”
Before making his return on AEW Collision, CM Punk visited the All State Arena where the April 25th episode of RAW took place. Punk reportedly met Triple H backstage and the two had a little conversation. He also met The Miz, Bobby Lashley, and Tamina.
BWE reported that WWE CEO Nick Khan has the final say if Triple H wants to bring CM Punk back to the company. BWE also added that Vince McMahon is currently focusing on the formation of TKO Group Holdings.
Ultimately it’s Nick Khan’s choice if Triple H does indeed want CM Punk back in WWE as Vince McMahon is too busy dealing with big money projects…
