In 2021, Pat McAfee started to work as a SmackDown color commentator along with Michael Cole. McAfee then received huge praise from the management and fans for his work. He also signed a multi-year contract with WWE in July.
Last September, Pat McAfee joined ESPN to become a member of the “College GameDay” broadcast team. McAfee announced that he would be returning to WWE in January.
The former NFL punter made a one-time appearance at Royal Rumble PLE, where he joined Michael Cole and Corey Graves on commentary. Recently, McAfee expressed his unhappiness about WWE going to the sale.
Today, the 35-year-old issued a statement and stated that he is not done with WWE. McAfee noted that he and his wife are expecting their first child soon. Therefore, he will take some time off.
“A lot of wrestling chatter about me right now..
I think about wrestling everyday..that dream isn’t done.
My business is currently rather active and exigent…+ baby on the way…timing is everything
I still have MASSIVE plans for my journey to the WWE HOF someday.
Believe that.”
