Last September, Pat McAfee signed a deal with ESPN to work as a member of the “College GameDay” broadcast team. McAfee then announced that he will return to WWE when football season is over.
The football season ended in January and McAfee made his return to WWE at Royal Rumble PLE. Many expected that McAfee will become a full-time member of the SmackDown commentary team again. However, that didn’t happen.
During McAfee’s hiatus, the WWE announcer team changed drastically. Also, Vince McMahon returned to the board to facilitate the sale. McMahon is looking to sell the company for $9 Billion.
Today, Pat McAfee issued a statement on Twitter about WWE, College Gameday, and his other projects. In the statement, McAfee noted that he is uncertain about returning to WWE under new buyers.
“Baby girl on the way… what’s that mean for my future with @WWE? I LOVE it but, they’re allegedly gonna be sold, who’s buying them? Do I want to work/make money for those people?”
