Kevin Owens Reportedly Taking Time Off From WWE

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn became the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions by defeating The Usos at WrestleMania 39. Since then, the duo defended the titles on numerous occasions.

The Prizefighter last competed on the July 17th episode of WWE RAW, where he and Sami Zayn successfully retained the titles against The Judgment Day’s Damian Priest & Dirty Dominik Mysterio.
This past Monday, Sami Zayn competed against Dominik Mysterio for the NXT North American Title. However, Dirty Dom was able to retain the title thanks to Mami and Priest.

Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley attacked Kevin Owens backstage and dragged him to the entrance ramp during the match. Owens then got medical treatment in a backstage segment, where he revealed that he suffered a rib injury. Later, multiple news outlets reported that Owens was legitimately injured.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer reported that the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships won’t be defending at SummerSlam. Meltzer added that Owens will take time off to recover from the rib injury.

“The tag titles won’t be on the show with Kevin Owens getting time off due to his broken rib…”

As of now, seven matches have been announced for the Biggest Party of the Summer. The match between Rhea Ripley and Raquel Rodriguez for the Women’s World Championship will be announced within the next few days.
