Last week, LA Knight appeared on SmackDown and stated that sooner or later fans will call him a champ. Knight is in the United States Championship Invitational and will be facing Sheamus, Cameron Grimes, and Rey Mysterio in a Fatal Four-Way match this Friday.
WWE posted LA Knight’s SmackDown promo on social media and garnered nearly 4 million views within 24 hours. Knight became one of WWE’s top merchandise sellers in June. However, he receives a lot of criticism for imitating The Rock and Steve Austin.
Recently, WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash stated that LA Knight is “an absolute rip off of The Rock.” Nash also questioned, “Why didn’t he get over anywhere else.” Last week, Nash double down on his comment and refused to apologize to LA Knight.
Meanwhile, Booker T defended LA Knight on his podcast. Booker stated that wrestlers always took some aspects of others and create their own things.
On the latest “Kliq This” podcast, Kevin Nash stated that if Knight’s segments got big ratings then that helps the product. Nash then apologized to The Megastar.
“If LA Knight, if the people, if he’s the chosen one, if he’s the people’s champion, then he’s the people’s champion, it doesn’t f—ing matter to me. If his segments do a number and that f—ing helps the WWE, which I’m a stockholder, and it makes my buddy, f—ing Paul’s life easier, than f—, get over dude. It was just one of those things where I don’t watch SmackDown, so dude, I didn’t know who the f— you were and I apologized. But some of us that are in professional wrestling actually watch sports, watch film, occasionally read a book. I do other things besides watch wrestling. There’s 394 hours of wrestling on television a week. I just can’t do it.”
