Kenny Omega last appeared on the December 13th episode of AEW Dynamite, where he and Chris Jericho challenged Ricky Starks and Big Bill to a match for the AEW World Tag Team Titles at Worlds End.
However, Omega was hospitalized last Thursday, and it was later revealed that he had been diagnosed with diverticulitis. The former AEW World Champion stated on X that he would be out for a long time.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer noted that Kenny Omega’s situation might have been worse if he had not been admitted to the hospital.
“Kenny Omega was told when diagnosed with diverticulitis that he was very lucky he went in because the situation could have been catastrophic, such as getting a blood infection, if he wasn’t diagnosed at the time he was, which would have something like a 50% chance of death.”
Meltzer added that Omega is doing well. However, he has to undergo several medical treatments.
“Kenny Omega, as the week went on, was doing better but still has to be patient and let all the treatment play out until he can take the next steps to recovery.”
