In June of last year, Vince McMahon was accused of paying multi-million dollars to several women over the past 16 years. The board of directors started an investigation on the matter in June of 2022. The investigation ended last November.
Last March, WWE Executive Chairman Vince McMahon reimbursed $17.4 million to the company related to his hush money scandal. McMahon agreed to pay additional costs related to the matter. However, the government investigation still going despite the company’s special investigation committee being disbanded last year.
During earning call on Wednesday, WWE disclosed that federal law enforcement agents executed a search warrant and served a federal grand jury subpoena on Vince McMahon on July 17th. However, no charges were filed regarding the investigation.
World Wrestling Entertainment has received voluntary and compulsory legal demands for documents, including from federal law enforcement and regulatory agencies, concerning the investigation and related subject matters.
The 77-year-old underwent major surgery two weeks ago. McMahon is currently on a leave of absence from July 21st.
