Cody Rhodes won the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble match by last eliminating CM Punk. The American Nightmare then challenged Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 40.
Cody Rhodes appeared at the Royal Rumble press conference, where he was asked about the Vince McMahon lawsuit and what changes should be made to the board to prevent situations like those from happening again.
“I know as far as the news was concerned, we were finding it out and reading the same thing that you guys were reading. TKO, Nick Khan, and The Board clearly took it seriously [and] acted immediately. Looking at the future… I don’t know the answer to that, and I think somewhere there really is a basic tenet that this crew, more than ever from a roster standpoint, it’s a family. Never seen anything like this.
Most of the time, wrestling locker rooms are fighting, talking trash about each other, making fun of each other, sandbagging each other in the ring, and all that nonsense. This crew is very team-based, and perhaps that is the ingredient, it’s everyone looking out for everyone and being accountable.”
