Last month, CM Punk’s contract was terminated by AEW President Tony Khan after recommendations from a disciplinary committee. Khan came to that decision after a week-long investigation regarding Punk and Jack Perry’s All In incident.
Later, Tony Khan admitted that releasing Punk was one of the toughest decisions of his professional career. The WWE locker room has a mixed reaction to potential Punk’s WWE comeback. However, one top star anticipates Punk’s return.
Recently, WWE President Nick Khan answered a question about CM Punk returning to WWE. Khan said, “We have respect for Phil, we wish him nothing but the best.”
Last month, the former AEW Champion re-joined Cage Fury Fighting Championships as a commentator. During CFFC 125, Punk teased that he would be returning at WWE Survivor Series.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that CM Punk and WWE are negotiating a deal to return to the company.
“There have been rumors that it’s happening, but those in WWE have only said that no deal is completed and those close to Punk have told us that it is his intention to return and the two sides are in talks. One would expect if such a deal is made that Survivor Series weekend in Chicago would be the time to do the surprise return”
