There were a lot of rumors and speculations circulated on social media regarding Drew McIntyre’s status with WWE when he was absent after WrestleMania 39. Last July, McIntyre made his return at Money in the Bank and had a brief storyline with Gunther. The Scottish Warrior is now teamed up with Matt Riddle on WWE television.
Drew McIntyre’s WWE contract was supposed to expire in early 2024. However, PWInsider reported that the company has extended McIntyre’s contract due to his three months hiatus. The deal is now believed to expire around WrestleMania 40.
The sources told PWInsider that the company is focusing on the formation of TKO Group Holdings which is why they don’t rush to sign McIntyre to a new contract. According to the WWE press release, TKO Group Holdings will be formed on Tuesday, September 12th.
Yesterday, Drew McIntyre teamed up with Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens to defeat Indus Sher at Superstar Spectacle in Hyderabad, India.
Before the event, Drew McIntyre was interviewed by Hindustan Times, where McIntyre stated that he had no plans to go anywhere.
“I don’t look to the future, I don’t look to the past, I look to the present. And my job right now is just making sure we give everybody in Hyderabad the best show possible and I’ll continue to give the best performance I can give at every show and I can see I don’t plan to be anywhere else. That’s as much as I can give.”
