Last night’s SmackDown took place at the Cajundome in Lafayette, LA. WWE had advertised four matches for the show. However, three of the advertised matches from last night’s SmackDown were canceled at the last minute.
LA Knight was supposed to compete in a Triple Threat match against Santos Escobar and Butch. On SmackDown, Knight faced Rey Mysterio and picked up the victory. Bayley was slated to put her Money in the Bank spot on the line against Shotzi. However, the bout didn’t take place on last night’s show. The match between Baron Corbin and Cameron Grimes was also canceled.
Fightful Select reported that Vince McMahon was heavily involved with SmackDown last night. “there were significant changes to the version of the show that existed Friday morning.”
WRKD Wrestling reported that McMahon changed the plans throughout the day. They also noted that many superstars had been frustrated over advertised matches being canceled.
“Plans for #SmackDown have changed throughout the day, leaving many frustrated, with matches announced last week potentially on the chopping block.”
