This past Friday’s SmackDown took place at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona. John Cena kicked off the show and then AJ Styles interrupted Cena. The Phenomenal One challenged Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa to a Tag Team match.
Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar faced Street Profits in a tag team match. Rey pinned Angelo Dawkins to win the bout. Bobby Lashley was angry after Street Profits lost the match. In a backstage segment, Lashley told Ford and Dawkins to hand over all the suits and watches.
Iyo Sky defeated Asuka to retain the WWE Women’s Championship.
Austin Theory and Grayson Waller defeated Ridge Holland and Butch in a Tag Team match.
In the final segment, John Cena, AJ Styles, and The Bloodline were slated to sign the contract ahead of their Tag Team bout at Fastlane. However, Jimmy and Solo attacked AJ Styles in the backstage. Cena then got into a brawl with Jimmy and Solo. The Bloodline got the upper hand.
According to Nielsen via Wrestlenomics, the September 22nd episode of WWE SmackDown drew 2.227 million viewers on FOX and a 0.63 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
