This past Friday’s SmackDown took place at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. Jey Uso kicked off the show, but Roman Reigns interrupted him. Reigns said that he doesn’t understand why Jey thinks he can beat him. Reigns made it clear that “Little Jey” can’t beat The Tribal Chief. Jey Uso then said that he already beat Roman Reigns and he do it again.
The finals of the United States Championship Invitational between Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar ended via referee stoppage. Escobar will face Austin Theory for the title on the August 11th edition of SmackDown.
LA Knight defeated Ashante “Thee” Adonis in a singles match.
Bianca Belair and Charlotte Flair defeated WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville in a tag team match.
Adam Pearce included LA Knight and Sheamus to SummerSlam Battle Royal in a backstage segment. This Friday, Knight will face Sheamus.
Karrion Kross defeated Karl Anderson. Kross attacked Anderson after the match. The rest of The OC members came to the ring to help Anderson.
In the main event, Jey Uso defeated Grayson Waller. Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa attacked Jey after the match.
According to Nielsen via Wrestlenomics, the July 28th episode of WWE SmackDown drew 2.323 million viewers on FOX and a 0.61 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
The previous episode (July 21) drew 1.230 million viewers on FS1 and a 0.36 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
