This past Friday’s SmackDown took place at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. The United States Championship Invitational kicked off the show. Rey Mysterio defeated LA Knight, Sheamus, and Cameron Grimes to qualify for the finals in the tournament.
Charlotte Flair defeated Iyo Sky. Shotzi appeared on the big screen during the match. The Role Model then walked backstage. Charlotte delivered a Natural Selection on Sky to win the match. However, Asuka ambushed Charlotte after the match.
Santos Escobar defeated United States Champion Austin Theory in a non-title match.
Dirty Dominik defeated Butch to retain the NXT North American Championship. Rhea Ripley helped Dominik to win the match.
In the final segment, Roman Reigns and Jey Uso discussed the Rules of Engagement for SummerSlam. Reigns asked Jey if he still wants to face him for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title. “Main Event” Jey Uso said that he must beat Reigns after everything he did to Jimmy Uso. Reigns signed the contract. However, Jey ripped the contract and said that Elders wanted a Tribal Combat between him & Reigns. The Tribal Chief and Jey Uso shook hands. Solo Sikoa tried to hit a Samoan Spike on Jey. Roman Reigns blocked it. Jey Uso then hit a Superkick on the Enforcer of The Bloodline.
According to Nielsen via Wrestlenomics, the July 21st episode of WWE SmackDown drew 1.230 million viewers on FS1 and a 0.36 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
The previous episode (July 14) drew 2.309 million viewers on FOX and a 0.62 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
The last time the December 2nd episode of SmackDown was broadcasted on FS1, which drew 902,000 viewers and a 0.25 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
