This past Friday’s SmackDown took place at the PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina. Bianca Belair kicked off the show to hype her match against Asuka for the WWE Women’s Title in the main event. Charlotte Flair interrupted Belair and told that she is next in line for the title.
Pretty Deadly defeated Sheamus and Ridge Holland in a Tag Team match. Unfortunately, Elton Prince suffered a shoulder injury during the bout.
Bayley defeated Zelina Vega in a singles match. After the match, Shotzi appeared on screen and shaved her head. She said that Damage CTRL can’t control her.
Jey Uso came to the ring to address Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa’s attack on his brother Jimmy. Paul Heyman interrupted Jey and told that Reigns will meet Jey next week to set the Rules of Engagement for SummerSlam. Heyman also said that Jey Uso is responsible for what happened to Jimmy Uso two weeks ago. Jey and Solo got into a brawl. “Main Event” Jey Uso got the upper hand in the brawl and he superkicked Paul Heyman.
Santos Escobar defeated Butch, Grayson Waller, and AJ Styles to advance in the United States Championship Invitational.
In the main event, Asuka defended her WWE Women’s Championship against Bianca Belair. However, the match ended in a disqualification after Charlotte Flair and Damage CTRL’s interference.
According to Nielsen via Wrestlenomics, the July 14th episode of WWE SmackDown drew 2.309 million viewers on FOX and a 0.62 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
The previous episode (July 7) drew 2.561 million viewers on FOX and a 0.76 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
