This past Friday’s SmackDown took place at the KFC Center in Louisville, Kentucky. The entire show was dedicated to honor the late Bray Wyatt and Terry Funk. The show opened with the traditional ten-bell salute while Triple H, Braun Strowman, Erick Rowan, and many RAW & SmackDown stars were present on the stage. During SmackDown, WWE aired video packages and social media posts of all wrestlers and wrestling personalities who commented about Wyatt and Funk’s passing.
Rey Mysterio defeated Grayson Waller in a non-title match.
Iyo Sky defeated Zelina Vega to retain the WWE Women’s Championship.
The Brawling Brutes faced The Street Profits in the Terry Funk Hardcore Tag Team. The bout was dedicated to Terry Funk.
Bray Wyatt’s former rivals, LA Knight and Finn Balor faced each other in the main event of the show. Knight made an emotional speech before the bout began. Knight picked up the victory with a BFT. SmackDown ended with a special tribute to the beloved superstar, Bray Wyatt.
According to Nielsen via Wrestlenomics, the August 25th episode of WWE SmackDown drew 2.647 million viewers on FOX and a 0.78 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
The previous episode (August 18) drew 2.094 million viewers on FOX and a 0.55 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
