This past Friday’s SmackDown took place at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta. The show kicked off with Charlotte Flair vs. Asuka. In the closing moment, Charlotte went for a Figure Eight but Damage CTRL came to the ring and attacked both women. The bout ended in a No Contest.
AJ Styles defeated Karrion Kross after hitting a Styles Clash.
Edge made his surprise return and said that he wanted to celebrate his 25th anniversary by facing someone that he never faced before. The Rated R Superstar challenged Sheamus to a match this Friday on SmackDown.
LA Knight defeated Top Dolla after hitting a BFT.
Austin Theory ambushed Santos Escobar before the United States Championship match began. Adam Pearce then announced that Rey Mysterio would be Theory’s opponent for the title. WWE Hall of Famer captured the US title by defeating Theory.
In the final segment, Roman Reigns said that he owed Jimmy Uso for helping him to defeat Jey at SummerSlam. Reigns said that he can give anything Jimmy wants. However, Jimmy said that he didn’t help Reigns at SummerSlam. Jimmy told Jey Uso that he was afraid to lose his brother. The Tribal Chief then forced Jey to acknowledge him. Jey Uso delivered Superkicks to Reigns, Solo, and Jimmy. Jey then said that he quit WWE.
According to Nielsen via Wrestlenomics, the August 11th episode of WWE SmackDown drew 2.097 million viewers on FOX and a 0.55 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
The previous episode (August 4) drew 2.248 million viewers on FOX and a 0.62 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
