Last October, Jey Uso made the “Yeet” catchphrase popular at the Fastlane post-show press conference. Later, the company released Yeet merchandise on the WWE Shop.
On Monday, WrestleVotes reported that WWE has found a trademark issue related to the word “Yeet” and Jey Uso is no longer able to use it.
A pro wrestler, Kassey Scott Huffman, filed to trademark “Yeet” on July 6, 2021. However, Huffman’s application for “clothing, namely, t-shirts, shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, pull-overs, caps, and hats” was abandoned on October 3, 2022.
As of May 22, 2023, Huffman’s application for entertainment services remains suspended.
Recently, Bodyslam reported that “there is a legal claim against Yeet. WWE lawyers are discussing it.”
Last night, WWE held the Live Holiday Tour in Utica, New York. Jey Uso faced Drew McIntyre in a singles match at the event. Main Event Jey wore a “Yeet” t-shirt.
Jey Uso posted the video clip on his Instagram story with the caption, “IT’S BACK..” Jey also posted the word “Yeet” on X. It seems like WWE’s attorneys have resolved the trademark issue.
