Shayna Baszler, who was released from WWE earlier this year as part of the post-WrestleMania roster cuts, has made a surprising return… but not inside the ring.
According to reports from BodySlam, Baszler recently worked as a producer for the July 8th episode of NXT, helping with the match between Kelani Jordan and Lainey Reid. This marks her first involvement with WWE since her release in April.
Fightful Select noted that WWE is currently testing her out as a producer, but no long-term role has been confirmed. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio added that Baszler is simply helping out at NXT for now and hasn’t signed a full-time contract as an agent.
“The story on Shayna Baszler is this: she’s got another month. I think the date is August 2 when her 90 days is up, so she can’t wrestle anywhere until August 2. It came out that she was one of the agents for, I believe, the Kelani Jordan match, and the story was made out to be bigger than it was. She has been at NXT tapings. She has agented other matches, but this is the first one to come out. It’s not like she’s taken a job as an agent. She is doing it since she’s around and they’ve asked her.”
