This past Tuesday’s WWE NXT kicked off with backstage footage of Dominik Mysterio and Rhea Ripley on RAW. Dominik said that it would be hilarious to see him defeating Dragon Lee in front of his father Rey Mysterio. WWE then aired footage of Rey and Dragon Lee in a Rolls-Royce. Lee told Rey that it’s an honor to have him in the corner of the NXT North American Title match.
Mustafa Ali defeated Axiom with a 450 Splash. After the match, Ali challenged Dominik for the NXT North American Championship.
Blair Davenport defeated Kelani Jordan.
Tyler Bate defeated Noam Dar to win the Heritage Cup.
Ilja Dragunov called out Trick Williams. Dragunov said that Williams is the reason why he wasn’t able to win the NXT Championship at Great American Bash. Williams challenged Dragunov to a match at Heatwave.
Bron Breakker defeated Von Wagner. After the match, Wagner put Breakker through the announcers’ table.
Drew Gulak & Charlie Dempsey defeated Josh Briggs & Brooks Jenson in a Tag Team match.
In the main event, Dominik Mysterio defeated Dragon Lee to retain the NXT North American Title. During the match, Rhea Ripley hit Lee with the Women’s World Championship. Dominik then pinned Lee to win the match.
According to Nielsen via SpoilerTV, the August 8th episode of WWE NXT drew 776,000 viewers on USA Network and a 0.23 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
The previous episode (August 1) drew 717,000 viewers on USA Network a 0.23 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
