Last night, UFC 302 took place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Islam Makhachev defended his Lightweight Championship against Dustin Poirier in the main event. Makhachev retained the title by submitting Poirier in the fifth round.
After the fight, Khabib Nurmagomedov’s cousin, Usman Nurmagomedov, jumped the cage to celebrate the victory with Makhachev. However, security personnel took Usman away from the octagon and escorted him out of the arena for breaking the rules.
As per MMA rules, participating fighters, the cage side doctor, the referee, Athletic Commission-approved personnel, and cornermen are allowed to enter the cage. Usman attended the show as a spectator.
During the UFC 302 post-fight press conference, Dana White said the following regarding the incident:
“Yeah, you can’t do that.”
