May 20, 2022: Stephanie McMahon announced a leave of absence from WWE.
June 15, 2022: Wall Street Journal reported that the WWE board of directors was investigating Vince McMahon’s secret $3 million settlement to a former employee.
June 17, 2022: Stephanie McMahon was appointed as interim CEO and interim Chairwoman of WWE.
June 21, 2022: John Laurinaitis was replaced by Bruce Prichard as interim Head of Talent Relations.
July 08, 2022: Wall Street Journal reported that Vince McMahon was paid $12 million in non-disclosed agreements to four women within the last 16 years.
July 22, 2022: Vince McMahon announced that he was retiring from WWE duties. McMahon appointed Stephanie McMahon as Chairwoman and Co-CEO of WWE. Nick Khan was appointed as Co-CEO of WWE.
July 25, 2022: Triple H was appointed as Head of Talent Relations and Head of WWE creative.
August 08, 2022: PWInsider reported that John Laurinaitis was fired from WWE a week ago.
December 14, 2022: Wall Street Journal reported that another two women were demanding justice against Vince McMahon. In the same article, WSJ noted that Vince McMahon was looking to return to the company.
December 20, 2022: Vince McMahon sent a letter to the board and stated that he wanted to return to the company.
December 27, 2022: WWE board responded to McMahon’s letter and stated that McMahon’s comeback would be a huge risk to the company.
December 31, 2022: Vince McMahon sent another letter and stated that he won’t approve any media rights deal unless he can’t return to the company.
January 05, 2023: Wall Street Journal reported that Vince McMahon was plotting a WWE comeback to negotiate the media right deals and to start the sale process.
January 06, 2023: Vince McMahon removed JoEllen Lyons Dillon, Jeffrey R. Speed, and Alan M. Wexler from the board. McMahon then added himself, George Barrios, and Michelle Wilson to the board.
January 07, 2023: WWE hired JPMorgan Chase & Co. to get advice on a potential sale.
January 10, 2023: Stephanie McMahon announced that she is leaving WWE. WWE then issued a press release and stated that the board elected Vince McMahon as Executive Chairman of WWE. Nick Khan was appointed as CEO of WWE.
