Drew McIntyre competed at WrestleMania 39, where he faced Sheamus and Gunther in a Triple Threat match for the Intercontinental Championship. McIntyre was unable to win the title. Since then, he has been absent from WWE television.
According to multiple reports, McIntyre is dealing with an injury. Meanwhile, his contract situation became a talking point in the IWC (Internet Wrestling Community). PWTorch’s Wade Keller reported that McIntyre is unsatisfied with his position in the company. Also, he is not happy with the money that WWE offers for the new deal.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer reported that the Scottish Warrior won’t be returning to WWE for at least the next few weeks.
“McIntyre won’t be in action at least the next few weeks and there is nothing else new right now on his situation. He was also not advertised for the 7/7 Smackdown taping in Madison Square Garden, nor was Reigns. His contract has months to go and there’s been no change in that situation past the sides were far apart on money.”
