AEW has held two shows called “Forbidden Door” in 2022 and 2023. Several wrestlers from AEW and NJPW competed at the show. The term Forbidden Door is used to describe when a wrestler appears from one promotion to another.
In 2022, then-TNA Knockouts World Champion Mickie James opened the forbidden door and entered the Women’s Royal Rumble match.
Last night, the current TNA Knockouts World Champion, Jordynne Grace, entered the rumble at No. 5. She received a huge ovation from the crowd. Grace was eliminated by Bianca Belair after spending 19 minutes and 10 seconds in the match.
Paul “Triple H” Levesque praised Jordynne Grace’s performance during the Royal Rumble post-show press conference. Triple H said that he doesn’t like to use the term “door” because it is stupid and silly.
“Jordynne Grace came here from TNA, I wanna thank them for allowing her to be here and participate in the Royal Rumble. I thought she had a spectacular showing, she’s an amazing talent. It’s exciting to just be able to branch out. I’m not gonna use all the cliched terms about what door people go through or anything like that because it’s stupid and silly.”
