Last December, Vince McMahon informed the WWE board that he will return to the company to facilitate the sale. However, the board of directors was against McMahon’s return.
The 77-year-old then returned to the board along with George Barrios, and Michelle Wilson in January. Later, McMahon was elected as the Executive Chairman of the company.
Recently, Bloomberg reported that Vince McMahon’s asking price for WWE is $9 Billion which is 37% higher than the market value. Bloomberg named Endeavor Group Holdings Inc and investors from the Middle East as potential buyers.
During the Elimination Chamber post-show press conference, a journalist asked Paul “Triple H” Levesque about Vince McMahon selling the company. Triple H said as long as he and WWE superstars are allowed to do what they are doing now, he will be happy.
“Depends on who is buying, I suppose. What the offer is, what the outcome is. Stay out of it, to me. That’s not a cop-out answer. I have the greatest gig in the world. I helped tonight, in some small way, create the magic we did here tonight. To me, it’s the best gig on the planet. As long we get to do this, as long as we get to create the way we get to create it, as long as we get to do our jobs and we get to go out there and put our passion on display, as long as our talents are allowed to put their passion on display and do what we do, I’m good. It is what it is.”
