On Monday, Ariel Helwani did an interview with CM Punk on MMA Hour, which caused huge controversy in the world of pro wrestling. It was Punk’s first interview after being fired from All Elite Wrestling.
The former world champion said he told AEW President Tony Khan that AEW was a joke. Punk also said that the purpose of AEW is not to make money. Punk added that Tony Schiavone asked him to advise Jack Perry not to use real glass for a segment.
On the What Happened When podcast, Tony Schiavone was asked about CM Punk’s comments about AEW. Schiavone said that he doesn’t give a sh-t about what Punk said during the MMA Hour.
“I really don’t give a sh-t about it. I’m not going to get into this. I know what he said, and let him continue to talk if he wants. That’s all I got. I don’t give a sh-t. That’s all I can say. I can’t get into that. It would be stupid for me to get into that. I have no idea what he said, with the exception of someone who told me, ‘Oh, he brought up your name, and here’s what he said’, and I went, ‘So what? So f–king what?”
The co-host told Tony Schiavone that CM Punk wasn’t critical of him. The AEW announcer gave the following response:
“That’s what I’m saying. So, what? If he was critical of me, people would say, ‘Oh, Schiavone on his podcast is going to defend himself.’ I have nothing to defend.”
