Tony Khan’s Big Plan For Ring of Honor Revealed

By The Spotlight StaffMarch 3, 2022
Tony Khan's Big Plan For Ring of Honor Revealed

On last night’s AEW Dynamite, Tony Khan announced that he has purchased the Ring of Honor.

AEW issued this statement to the public.

Tony Khan has agreed to acquire the assets of Ring of Honor Wrestling Entertainment, LLC from Sinclair Broadcast Group, including the promotion’s extensive video library dating back to 2002, brand assets, intellectual property, production equipment and more.

Bodyslam.net reported that, very few people knew about Tony Khan’s announcement. They stated,

One source had stated to me that he heard it was in the $30-$40 million range, but I was unable to confirm that information with any other sources within either AEW or ROH.

When asking around about the sale of ROH and plans for the company going forward, sources confirmed to me that internal plans call for AEW to utilize Ring of Honor as a developmental territory of sorts. Additionally, it was said that ‘Main Roster’ AEW Talent will be dipping into the ROH brand on occasion.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that the deal was signed two weeks ago on Thursday.

We will update you when we receive more details. Stay tuned with The Spotlight.
