Tony Khan Reveals Why He Removed Adam Cole's Match At AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door

This past Friday on AEW Rampage, MJF said that he talked to Tony Khan and booked Adam Cole a match against Tom Lawlor at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. However, the match didn’t take place at the show.

Hours before Forbidden Door, AEW President issued a statement on Twitter and informed the fans that Adam Cole was unable to compete. Tom Lawlor faced Serpentico during AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door Zero Hour.

Due to illness, @AdamColePro isn't cleared tonight, therefore the Adam Cole vs @FilthyTomLawlor match is canceled.

Despite the change, tonight will be an amazing show!

Thank you to everyone watching #ForbiddenDoor, either here live in Toronto @ScotiabankArena or on ppv tonight!

— Tony Khan (@TonyKhan) June 25, 2023

During the post-show media scrum, Tony Khan was asked about Adam Cole’s condition. Khan said that Cole arrived at the Scotiabank Arena with a fever. Therefore, Khan sent him home after concerning Cole’s health. Khan hopes that Cole will return to the squared circle very soon to compete in the Blind Eliminator Tag Team Tournament.

Tony Khan also said that he’s interested to book Adam Cole vs. Tom Lawlor in a future event.
