Terence Crawford Vacates WBO Welterweight Championship

By The Spotlight StaffAugust 13, 2024
Terence Crawford Vacates WBO Welterweight Championship

Terence Crawford won the WBO Welterweight (147 lb) Championship by defeating Jeff Horn via TKO in round 9 on June 9th, 2018. On Monday, Crawford vacated his title, and interim champion Brian Norman Jr. upgraded to World Champion status.

Last May, Brian Norman Jr. defeated Giovani Santillan via KO in round 10 to become the interim WBO Welterweight Champion.

Terence Crawford still holds the WBA & interim WBO Super Welterweight (154 lb) Titles and the WBA (Super) Welterweight (147 lb) Title. It is likely that Crawford will also vacate the WBA (Super) Welterweight Championship, meaning WBA (Regular) Welterweight Champion Eimantas Stanionis will upgrade to Super Champion status.
