Shane McMahon Issues Statement After Meeting With AEW President Tony Khan

On Monday, Shane McMahon and AEW President Tony Khan had a meeting in an office at a private Arlington airport. McMahon and Khan discussed possibilities moving forward according to Fightful Select and WrestleTalk.

A photo of the meeting was obtained by WrestleTalk. Later, TBS Champion Mercedes Mone claimed she took the photo of McMahon and Khan.

WrestleVotes reported that a longtime WWE employee close to Shane McMahon said the meeting did not surprise anyone in the company.

“Asked a longtime WWE employee friendly with Shane for thoughts on the Tony Khan picture. The response: ‘Shane’s as smart as they come; taking a preliminary meeting doesn’t surprise anyone here.”

On Wednesday, Shane McMahon issued a statement regarding his meeting with Tony Khan via WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray.

“Tony [Khan] and I were connected through a mutual friend and we had a great meeting. We talked about many things, but mostly about our shared love for the business and the rewards and challenges of working with family. I congratulated him on the five-year anniversary of AEW and look forward to how he evolves the business moving forward.”
