UFC 306 is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 14th at the Sphere in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Bantamweight Championship fight between Sean O’Malley and Merab Dvalishvili will headline the event.
On the same day, Unified Super Middleweight Champion Canelo Alvarez is set to defend his title against Edgar Berlanga at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Dana White and Turki Alalshikh are not thrilled about the Alvarez vs. Berlanga fight going head-to-head with UFC 306. However, Canelo Alvarez is not worried about the competition with UFC.
On his YouTube channel, Sean O’Malley predicted his KO victory at UFC 306 would outdraw the Canelo Alvarez fight.
“This fight, I’m feeling good as f–k. I love this matchup. He’s got a 10-fight winning streak. It’s a big fight. It’s at the Sphere; it’s in competition with boxing, which is just kind of an extra little layer. When it comes to Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, [and] Wednesday, who are they talking about? Are they talking about Canelo [Alvarez]? Are they talking about the boxing fight? Or are they talking about the absolute dominating, beautiful, masterful, masterclass performance that I put on Merab [Dvalishvili] and the viral knockout that came with it? Or are they talking about a 36-minute Canelo boxing fight that was kind of fire? That’s what excites me. It’s the competition of who are they talking about on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Who stole the headlines? Me.”
