Samoa Joe Temporarily Written Off AEW TV After All In Texas

This past Saturday, The Opps defeated The Death Riders and Gabe Kidd in a Trios match to retain the Trios Championships at All In Texas. After the match, Samoa Joe was attacked and taken out on a stretcher.

According to Fightful Select, this is a planned storyline designed to write Samoa Joe off AEW television temporarily. They added that Joe is taking a short break to focus on promotional duties for Season 2 of Twisted Metal, which premieres on Peacock on July 31. While an exact return date hasn’t been announced, Fightful noted that Samoa Joe is expected to be away from AEW for a couple of weeks.

“Joe was scheduled to miss some time after AEW All In, as he’s set to do some promotion for the upcoming season of Twisted Metal. We haven’t heard a specific amount of time that he’s supposed to miss outside of it being at least a couple of weeks.”

Joe plays the role of Sweet Tooth, the iconic clown-faced villain from the legendary video game franchise. With the new season approaching, he’s needed for a media tour to help boost viewership and awareness of the show.
