Ryan Garcia was arrested on Saturday afternoon for felony vandalism at the Waldorf Astoria in Beverly Hills. TMZ reported that the former WBC interim lightweight champion was taken into custody after he allegedly damaged hotel property worth $15,000.
A source told TMZ that Garcia was seemingly under the influence of alcohol or drugs during the arrest. However, the boxer complied with the police officers during the arrest and left peacefully.
ESPN reported that Ryan Garcia complained of a medical issue after he was booked at the Beverly Hills Police Department jail. The authority later transferred him to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for evaluation.
Darin Chavez, Ryan Garcia’s lawyer, stated that Garcia has been released from jail. Chavez also noted that Garcia may be charged with public intoxication.
