Reason Why WWE Canceled Seth Rollins’ World Heavyweight Championship Open Challenge

By The Spotlight StaffJune 20, 2023
Reason Why WWE Canceled Seth Rollins' World Heavyweight Championship Open Challenge

Last night’s WWE RAW took place at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, OH. Seth Rollins kicked off the show to issue a World Heavyweight Championship open challenge. However, Rollins was brutally attacked by Finn Balor. The referees and the officials were unable to stop Balor. The Prince hit three Coup De Grace on Rollins. He then attacked Rollins backstage.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer stated that Rollins’ open challenge was planned to happen until the last minute. However, Vince McMahon changed the plan. Meltzer added that McMahon wanted to heat up Rollins vs. Balor storyline.

“The open challenge was supposed to happen till the last minute. Vince changed… the first 30 minutes of the show, I heard, was totally changed. Vince really wanted this…The whole Seth Rollins angle with Finn Balor, I think he just wanted something big, something bigger for Seth Rollins and Finn Balor. I think just to heat up Finn Balor. To be fair, I know people who were there who told me, as far as the 30 minutes that Vince put in, it was better than the 30 minutes that was taken out, whatever that means. They worked really hard in building Seth and Finn Balor.”

Seth Rollins is scheduled to defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Bron Breakker on tonight’s NXT.
