Last May, Naomi and Sasha Banks decided to walk out from WWE after a creative meeting with then-WWE Head of Creative Vince McMahon. Both of them were the Women’s Tag Team Champions at the time. Therefore, WWE stripped them from titles and held a tournament to crown new champions.
Naomi and Banks were then spotted at public events such as movie premiers and fashion shows. In January, Sasha Banks made her NJPW debut but Naomi didn’t appear in any wrestling promotions.
During a virtual signing, Naomi’s former tag team partner, Ariane Andrew (Cameron) revealed the reason why Naomi hasn’t wrestled after leaving WWE. Ariane said that Naomi is currently recovering from shoulder surgery.
“So, she (Trinity Fatu/Naomi) is recovering from shoulder surgery and you know, I want her to answer the question for herself (of what’s next for her). I know she’s recovering from shoulder surgery. But, I’m super proud of her. That’s my sister from another mister and I think you have to ask her for yourself how she’s feeling. See if her shoulder is feeling good because she’s recovering right now. Ask her that question.”
