Randy Orton has been absent from WWE television since May of last year. Orton last competed on the May 20th episode of SmackDown, where he and Matt Riddle lost their RAW Tag Team Titles to The Usos in a Winners Take All Title Unification match.
Last November, The Viper has undergone back fusion surgery and is currently in the recovery process. Back fusion surgery will take six months to a year to fully heal.
In an interview with Bill Apter, Orton’s father and the WWE Hall of Famer Bob Orton stated that Randy Orton is training for a comeback. But doctors have not cleared Orton to compete in the squared circle.
“He’s training, so we’ll see what happens; I don’t know. If he feels like he’s ready to go back, I think he might, but again he’s pretty well taken care of. I don’t think he needs to. And I think the doctors have told him not to. But Randy will do what Randy wants to do.”
