Last year, Stone Cold Steve Austin was heavily involved with WrestleMania. Steve Austin competed against Kevin Owens in a No Holds Barred match in the main event of night one.
It was his first match after nineteen long years away from the in-ring competition. The fans and WWE backstage officials praised Austin for following the match.
The Texas Rattlesnake then appeared on night two of WrestleMania 38, where he hit stunners on Vince McMahon, Austin Theory and Pat McAfee.
There was a rumor circulating that Steve Austin is hoping to wrestle in this year’s WrestleMania as well. Austin also posted several workout video clips on Instagram to fuel the rumors.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said that the WWE Hall of Famer could appear at WrestleMania but he turned down the offer to wrestle at the event.
“As far as Austin goes, Steve might be at the show. I mean, I wouldn’t be surprised at all. He might do something on the show but he did in fact turn down wrestling at the show. He was offered [Brock] Lesnar, he was offered Roman Reigns. He probably could have named his opponent if he wanted to do it with anybody else but he did not choose to wrestle on the show.”
