Yesterday, Mandy Rose defended her NXT Women’s Title against Roxanne Perez on NXT. Mandy lost the title and a few hours later she was released by WWE.
Sean Ross of Fightful Select first reported the news and stated that “WWE officials felt they were put in a tough position based on the content she [Mandy Rose] was posting on her Brand Army page. They felt like it was outside of the parameters of her WWE deal.”
There were a lot of rumors circulated on social media regarding Mandy Rose’s release. Some reported that Mandy has requested her release from WWE due to her making more money on the exclusive content site than working with WWE. Although, there’s no confirmation on whether she requested the release or not.
In another report, Fightful Select noted that Mandy Rose knew she will be getting in trouble based on the content that she published on her site.
“We’ve learned that in recent months, Mandy had indicated to others that she realized the content and nature of her page could get her in trouble with management.”
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer noted that Shawn Michaels wanted to strip the championship off from Mandy Rose after learning that what kind of content she published on the site.
“They switched the whole show around because they – what happened was, there was a meeting and Matt Bloom brought to Shawn Michaels, told him what some of the stuff that she’s been putting on her subscription service is.
And told Shawn what was there, and Shawn’s immediate thing was, ‘We’ve got to get the title off of her immediately’. Switched around the whole show, got the title off of.”
