LA Knight signed with WWE in 2021 and made his in-ring debut on the March 17th episode of NXT. Less than a year later, Knight made his main roster debut as Max Dupri, managing Mace and Mansoor.
Last September, Max Dupri reverted back to his old persona after ending his partnership with Maximum Male Models. LA Knight then began a storyline with Bray Wyatt, which ended at this year’s Royal Rumble. He qualified for the Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder match after defeating Montez Ford. Many fans expect Knight’s win due to his impressive mic and wrestling skills.
However, LA Knight recently exchanged a few words with Zelina Vega during the WWE’s Bump. Vega tweeted that Knight should be himself rather than copying Steve Austin and The Rock.
In an interview with the Cheap Heat podcast, LA Knight responded to the criticism of imitating Austin and The Rock.
“If you wanna make that comparison, cool. My aim is to be bigger and better than either of them. I think I bring a very different package to the table than they do. At the same time, are there little glimmers of similarities? Sure, there are. I mean, I guess you can go ahead and say there’s Kobe to Jordan. There’s those kinds of comparisons and stuff like that, so if you want to make me the Kobe to their Jordan, sure, why not? I’ll take it.”
